General Proprieties
The 616C steel (S42200) is a martensitic stainless steel and it can be hardened to achieve excellent mechanical properties.
The 616C steel has good resistance to atmosphere, fresh water, weak organic acids, oxidizing acids such as nitric acid, sulphurous gases, it will not resist pitting from reducing acids solutions. Best corrosion resistance is obtained on hardened and tempered material (avoid tempering in the range of 450-540°C). The 616C steel is mainly used in blades and impellers for steam turbines and compressors, bolts for elevated temperature service, valves, parts of aircraft structures, etc. The 616C steel is available at CHUN & VOLLERIN in the following format: Bars.
